Lose 33 pounds in 15 Days With Cardiac Diet for Weight Loss

Cardiac diet plan can help you lose up to 2-7 pounds in 5 days or 22-33 pounds in 15 days.

Foods in this diet plan are rich in vitamins and minerals, so the founders claim that you won’t have a feeling of weakness or exhaustion.

Which is very unlikely.

At first, it may seem similar to citrus diet, but it’s not.

Although very similar, these two diets differ in some details so it’s important to treat them separately.

If your goal is to lose just a few pounds then repeat this 5-day meal plan cycle up to 3 times, for a maximum of 15 consecutive days.

On the other hand, if your goal is to lose more than 7 pounds then between every 3 cycles have 15 days of break.

In other words, 15 days diet, 15 days rest, then repeat.

Cardiac or medical diet is a term for a heart-healthy diet. It was given due to the fact that similar diet plans are applied to patients with heart problems, who need to lose weight before surgery without losing their strength.

Why this diet works

This diet is considered to be very restrictive since it’s low in calories, which is in the short run effective for rapid weight loss.

The negative side is that if you don’t stick with healthy eating habits afterward, the weight will come back. This is also known as the yo-yo effect.

Cardiac diet meal plans are based on eating lots of nutrient-rich foods such as whole grains, fruits and veggies, fish and lean poultry. While trans fats, saturated fats, sugar and excess sodium should be avoided.

Here is an example of a 5-day meal plan:

DAY 1

Breakfast

  • 1 orange
  • 4 crackers
  • 1 cup of coffee or tea (without sugar)

Lunch

  • 1 orange
  • 1 boiled egg
  • 1/2 cups of yogurt

Dinner

  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 boiled eggs
  • 1 cucumber or 1/2 of lettuce salad

DAY 2

Breakfast

  • 1 orange
  • 4 crackers
  • 1 cup of coffee or sugar-free tea

Lunch

  • 1 orange
  • 1 boiled egg
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt

Dinner

  • 1 Burger (125 g of minced meat)
  • 1 orange
  • 1 tomato
  • 4 crackers
  • 1 cup of coffee or sugar-free tea

DAY 3

Breakfast

  • 1 orange
  • 4 crackers
  • 1 cup of coffee or sugar-free tea

Lunch

  • 1 orange
  • 1 boiled egg
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt
  • 1 lettuce salad or 2 cucumbers
  • any sugar-free drink (avoid soda and diet cokes)

Dinner

  • 1 burger (125 g of minced beef meat)
  • 1 orange
  • 4 crackers
  • 1 cup of coffee or sugar-free tea

DAY 4

Breakfast

  • 1 orange
  • 4 crackers
  • 1 cup of coffee or sugar-free tea

Lunch

  • 125 g of non-fat cheese
  • 1 tomato
  • 4 crackers

Dinner

  • 1 burger (125 g of minced beef meat)
  • 4 crackers
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 apple

DAY 5

Breakfast

  • 1 orange
  • 4 crackers
  • 1 cup of coffee or sugar-free tea

Lunch

  • 200 g of fish or chicken
  • 4 crackers
  • 1 tomato

Dinner

  • 500 g of cooked vegetables
  • 1 boiled egg
  • 1 tomato

Additional notes

  • Meat and cooked vegetables can be lightly seasoned with whichever herb or spice you like
  • Meat should be baked on a teflon pan to reduce the need for additional fat
  • You can replace fresh tomatoes with cooked ones
  • Never skip meals
  • Hydrate your body by drinking a lot of water- strive for 2-3 liters per day.
  • The listed foods should be consumed in the specified quantities and order

Heart-healthy foods

Here are a few additional foods that are good for your heart and weight loss.

Vegetables:

  1. Arugula
  2. Broccoli
  3. Bell peppers
  4. Carrots
  5. Bok choy
  6. Spinach
  7. Asparagus
  8. Tomato
  9. Cauliflower

Soluble fiber:

  1. Oats
  2. Beans
  3. Ground flaxseed
  4. Berries

Omega 3 fatty acids:

  1. Sardines
  2. Salmon
  3. Herring
  4. Tuna
  5. Hemp Seeds
  6. Ground flaxseed
  7. Chia seeds
  8. Walnuts

Side effects

Because the meal plans are low in calories it’s very common to feel hungry and lack of energy.

If you are switching from high-carb diet then headache is a possible side effect as well.

    I have done this for 21 days straight, and I don’t call it a diet its more of a reality check to myself on just how many calories are in everything that I was eating and drinking daily. First week I lost 11.5 lbs it works and it take discipline. The first 3 days was the hardest I did feel tired and grumpy but watching the weight come off was encouragement! I started to fill more energy over the next few weeks. What I gained is an awareness, with only one slip up after day 20 I drank a Pepsi it was too sweet to finish. I also have been drinking some apple cider vinegar with mother in it I add it to hot tea and sip. It helps you feel fuller and gives boost of energy. I took a week off of this and ate healthy foods for a week lots of veggies( some cooked some raw) salads w homemade dressings( vinegar and dash of oil and spices like garlic and cayenne pepper) and found myself wanting to go back to bad habit eating so I had a talk with myself, reminding myself why its so important to eat good foods and drink water daily. I want to be healthy for my kids ,so many people I know have died young from heart disease and diabetes. I’m back on track. If you slip up don’t give up ! just get focused again on the reasons why you are doing it. Don’t look at it as a restricted diet look at it as a life change to what you and eating and drinking every day.

      Hi! I’m Stella W. and started this diet this week. My 1st day was really good and no hunger pains at all. I just need to keep on track n need to use just smaller tomatoes n or just half of 1 n same with the cucumber. But the ground beef/mince meat/ is still to come.

        I stopped after I lost 20lbs and haven’t gained it back or lost any weight since then. I’m about to embark on it again.

      This is the way I feel,,Iam 56 and weigh 180lbs and not happy the way I look and yes I have 3 children ages12,12.and 9 which I adopted and I do need to be around fpr them.     1. I’m game. I am going to give it a shot. My heart is already bad, tachycardia, angina. What can it hurt ? I know it’s going to take discipline. It’s going to be hard. I also have Type 2 diabetes. My weight is at its highest. I’m miserable. Tomorrow I will begin my first day. I sure am looking for a life change. 🙂

      Absolutely NOT! Make an appt with a diabetic educator/registered dietician.

      1. Completely don’t do this if you have diabetes, especially if you’re at the point of insulin. Please talk to your doctor about other weight loss treatment options and work a diet plan. It’s very dangerous to have very low blood sugar levels when you are on insulin, and very possible for you to become hypoglycemic.

    3. No, this ridiculous “diet” is not safe for anyone, much less diabetics!
      The type of crackers are not specified.
      Breakfast is a high glycemic load, absent of protein.
      I seriously doubt any cardiologist approved of this eating plan.
      A portion of a good fats is required with each meal.
      Fat is not the enemy. 3oz of good protien is needed for each meal.
      Please research healthy lifestyle and eating changes. Then take a healthy first step, that will change horrible eating habits.
      People lose weight because this is an unhealthy starvation diet.

    I have been over weight for47 years. I’ve lost weight just to gain it back. I’ve learned something though. Most women can’t fill their plates the way a man fills his,unless she knows how to eat from it. 1 bite of ea. thing, 2 or 3 drinks of water and you are done. Hungry but done. Well I ate until I was full then dessert. Well my highest weight was about 10 yrs. ago 231 lbs. I’m just short of that now at 217 lbs. I will start this diet April 13,2018 Wish me luck.I am 74 yrs.   17. I just wanted to say that this is my 3rd day on this diet and I’ve felt amazing. No stomach aches…no hunger and to top it off I’ve noticed -7.8lbs on the scale. So excited to see what these next 13 days will show me. Try it…you have nothing to loose but the excess unhealthy weight.

  18. I just completed my 4 day on this diet. I have lost about 9lbs. I feel great and I space my food out. I also add a premier protein drink each day (1. because I don’t do the yogurt) and to ensure that I have some substance in my system since this diet plan is limited on calories. The crackers that I use are ak-mak (sesame crackers with whole wheat flour.) I will see how my first weekend goes!!!

    I am on day 4 and I had a late lunch of crab salad with 4 crackers n did my meal for supper as requested. I found the 2 tomatoes to b too much. I only had 1/2 of 1 and same with the Apple; only did 1/2. I will have the other halves for a snack if I get hungry! I don’t have a scale, but am going to the dr on Friday. Bkfst has always been my biggest meal n I do miss that. I am just under 200 lbs. n hoping this works.

    I am starting my 3rd week on this diet. I have gained 35 lbs in the last 2 years and have been working to lose it. I attempted several diets such as egg fast, Keto and Atkins to no avail. I even got a personal trainer and worked out for 3 months but the number on the scale did not budge a single digit (no, there was no muscle gain/definition or any difference in the way I looked). I have only lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks, but it is definitely more than I have in the last 7 months. I have not felt hungry or weak. I did get a headache one day when I skipped a tomato at lunch (ran out). The headache went away an hour after I ate the dinner portion of tomatoes.
    I am pretty sure I’ll gain it back soon as I get off the diet but this has given me hope to continue my attempts.

  43. Just finished this 5 day diet and have lost 7 lbs!!! Going to do it again next week! Not too difficult to stick with. Chopped eggs, tomato, and cucumber onto my salad and even cheated with a bit of low-fat ranch dressing each time! You must drink plenty of water. I didn’t experience any headaches, lack of energy, or tiredness during the week. Not starving is a real plus for me!

Hi, I would like to try this diet i have a caffeine allergy so I wonder what I could substitute that with and what kind of crackers are they the mini crackers or regular crackers are they white or whole wheat.
