Basic Ingredients of Citrus Diet
Basic citrus fruits are:
Of all citruses, lemon has the least calories, and thanks to citrus acid it has extremely refreshing effect.
Lemon contains all the necessary elements for breaking fat cells in organism and because of that, it is favorite ingredient for all those who want to lose weight.
Lemon acid promotes intensive production of stomach acid and improves digestion, which is one of the most important parameters of every diet.
With lemon, you can clean your body, blood, lymph, lose weight and prevent various diseases.
Oranges are rich in minerals, vitamin C, and water that refresh us, which makes them perfect for the battle against extra pounds.
Besides vitamin C, oranges are rich in calcium, potassium, magnesium, and they satiate organism very fast. (3)
Grapefruit also contains a lot of water like oranges. Fruits with high content of water promote drinking liquids which provides more energy and improves metabolism.
Chemical properties of this citrus lower the blood insulin level and promote weight loss. (4)
For a healthy beginning of the day, it is enough to drink a glass of warm water with half a lemon, orange or grapefruit on an empty stomach. Also, meals should contain at least one of these fruits.
There are several kinds of citrus diet, and we will present two of them.
1. Citrus diet for a fast weight loss
This diet is created for people who want to get rid of extra pounds quickly. It differs from other types of citrus diet in groceries list, i.e. in their limitations.
The advantage of this diet is that it’s great for weight loss (the ones who’ve tried it say that it is possible to lose up to 27 pounds in one month).
Of course, this result isn’t always the same but the average is around 18 pounds, which is a great for everyone who wants to lose weight fast.
The one thing that’s recommended during this diet is not to be on it all the time, because it’s quite demanding so it shouldn’t be applied for more than 5 to 7 days. After that, you can make a 3 day break and then, if you want to, you can repeat the cycle.
An example of a menu of citrus diet for a rapid weight loss:
- A glass of freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice
- One grapefruit and two kiwis
- Two boiled eggs and a sugar free lemonade
This kind of diet is recommended to:
All those who want to lose weight fast. Especially because when on this diet, you don’t have to work out, the pounds will start disappearing after the first cycle (after 3 days). There’s no cooking during this diet, so the ladies who hate cooking will love this diet.
This kind of diet is NOT recommended to:
People who have stomach issues or hyperglycemia. We also need to mention that fast weight loss may cause the effect of hanging skin at people with large number of extra pounds.
Citruses are low calorie fruits so you can feel fatigue or headache, but since this diet lasts only three days and that beauty has no price, it is negligible.
This is a very challenging diet that should be tested, but only for a couple of days.
It’s best to start it in summer when you want to lose some extra pounds.
If you follow this diet in multiple cycles, I highly recommended to consult your doctor or a nutritionist.
2. 15-day citrus diet
This one isn’t as strict as the first one, but represents a healthy, balanced menu.
Meals should be eaten at the same time every day.
Example of the meal plans:
Breakfast is same for all days and is made of one fresh orange, one slice of integral bread and a cup of sugar-free coffee or tea.
- 1 orange, 1 yogurt, 1 boiled egg
- Cooked chicken breasts with 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 1 citrus fruit
